Threshold

1. When it is used in respect of biological species, ecosystem or another natural systems, it refers to the level beyond which further deterioration is likely to precipitate asudden adverse, and, possibly, irreversible change.

2. A size or limit above or below which there begin to operate definite norms and restrictions.
